Attention Ohioans! It is now legal for you to sell, purchase, and utilize products with CBD hemp in OH! Advocates and retailers tell us that due to the recent ruling, Senate Bill 57 approved by Gov. DeWine last year, more and more hemp derived CBD will be seen on store shelves. Does that mean that marijuana is legal?
No. It does not. At least not in Ohio… yet. (Unless you are an official card-carrying Ohio medical marijuana user.)
Hemp, Marijuana, and CBD
Though both marijuana and hemp are cannabis derived, less THC is contained within hemp. The intoxicating effects in marijuana are present due to the active ingredient THC. Until Gov. DeWine signed that bill, under state law, all cannabis derived products were viewed as marijuana. Prior to the bill, even though some retailers kept on selling it, CBD was only supposed to be sold in dispensaries that were classified as being able to sell medicinal marijuana.
Now, however, you can find it in various places from health food stores to gas stations and everywhere in between! It seems everyone is jumping on the CBD bandwagon, and for good reason. The benefits of CBD are many. Turns out, that applies to both humans and pets! Yes, there are CBD products for the wellness of your pet as well as edibles, topicals, vape juice, and other CBD products for humans.
Is Ohio Ready?
Certainly before the passing of Senate Bill 57, and even afterwards, some stores took CBD products off their shelves. This includes E cigarettes. Obviously, before the bill passed, those products should likely not have appeared on shelves of stores not classified as medical dispensaries. But what would cause a store to remove CBD products from their shelves after the passing of the bill?
This may or may not come as a surprise, and we won’t single out any one particular city here, but police departments were requesting that these stores pull the products out of inventory. With more and more people making the decision to enjoy the benefits of CBD, however, many of these stores will soon be restocking their shelves, if they haven’t already.
More Variety for CBD Shoppers
On the shelves of various stores you will also soon be able to find more than just bottles of CBD oil and CBD infused gummy bears. A vast array of products will soon be available including coffee flavored CBD edibles, CBD infused coffee, and more. These will likely be seen first in high-end grocery stores and online. Currently, CBD is available as an ingredient in beverages and food, as a dietary supplement, and in cosmetics.
One major aspect to keep in mind is that legal CBD products must contain less than 0.3% THC. That’s why you don’t get “high” from CBD products.
