CBD has become very popular in recent years. It is not going away and will continue to gain steam. Numerous individuals have been able to find relief, but could it also help our four-legged friends? Truth told me, I am not a dog owner. My four-year-old, long with his pre-school and all my other responsibilities, is enough for Ms. So, at least for the time being, o, ur household size is staying put.
However, my friends, family, and many of you have additional family (the four-legged kind). Being a pet owner comes with responsibilities as well. What if I were to tell you that there has been research showing evidence that CBD oil is an effective treatment for dogs?
Can you use CBD Oil to help your pets?

Treating Epilepsy For Dogs with CBD Oil
In a previous posting, I referenced studies and research about CBD oil and its positive effects on epilepsy. The research eventually led to an FDA-approved CBD oil-based medication to treat epilepsy. The results were all positive, but now studies have referenced its successful use in dogs. This 2018 newscast referenced one performed by Colorado State University, y, which shows a lot of promise.
Nearly 90% of our furry friends saw a reduction in seizures! The good news is they referenced some additional grants that will help them increase research and expand the sample size to get better results.

Treatment For Dog Osteoarthritis
In this 2018 study, researchers from Cornell University and Colorado State University investigated whether CBD Oil would help treat dogs with osteoarthritis.
Interestingly enough, the study was seeking to find a more suitable alternative treatment vs. the use of nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drug treatments that basically can have such bad side effects that it doesn’t even warrant their use an extensive read. Still, researchers provided clinical evidence that they successfully increased the comfort and activity level of the dogs in the study with osteoarthritis with no observable side effects.
Improving the Skin of Dogs with Atopic Dermatitis
In a 2012 study in Italy, researchers sought to explore the use of cannabimetic compounds on dogs with atopic dermatitis. That’s the canine version of eczema (for humans who have or know of others who deal with varying severity of the condition). It’s a quick read, but researchers noted that the compounds are protected against inflammation. In this case, the skin disorder (atopic dermatitis). Scratching, swelling, and skin inflammation in dogs are our four-leggfriends’ second most common skin diseases.
Veterinarians and CBD Oil
There has been some research presented showing some positive benefits for the use of CBD oil on dogs. However, there is a need to expand on more research, and also some states may not (currently) allow for its use.
Things are changing and evolving, and it’s exciting to see that there are additional grants to expand clinical research and provide further data. Particle gives you a good idea of what some veterinarians are thinking. The data that has been revealed holds promise, and I believe it will expand significantly as states remove any particular restrictions on donor veterinarian medicine.
